Thank you so much to Victoria for designing this pattern. For specific questions to Victoria, you can email her at: mailto:azmoonbugs@cox.net
The consensus is to do it in dish cotton as this is the group and the yarn we all use here.
I think any soft color (baby style) will do nicely--white, ecru, pink, blue, yellow, peach, green solids, stripes etc. What will tie the afghan together will be the white crochet border and the pattern.
The pattern does not have a slipped stitch. This makes the edge of the afghan a bit more sturdy and if the blocks are whip stitched together, the sewing does not show much in the seed stitch border.
The following people have offered to sew the rows together and finish up the afghan.
Pick a person and send your square to them.

If all squares are in the mail by November 14th that should give us enough time to get the project completed and out in penty of time. This will also leave less of a chance for someone's square to not be included. THANKS!
If each person sends a quarter with a square that should be enough money to cover postage. If there are people in Europe that want to make a square, could we get a volunteer in Europe to collect the squares (and maybe stitch them into rows)and send them all in one bag? If we do not find a volunteer to do this in Europe, send to any of the assemblers in the list above.
The size of the squares is approximately 5.5 inches. Some have had to go up in needle size to an 8 US to get that size. Should any squares get to Courtney a bit smaller than 5.5 inches a crochet border will be added to the square to make up for the difference.
Dee, Mary, and Victoria are all assembling strips and then sending to Courtney. Courtney is also assembling strips and then will finish the afghan and add a crochet border. Pictures will be posted here on this blog for anyone who wants to keep up with the progress.
There has been some confusion on leaving a tail of yarn on the square for sewing. Courtney would rather there not be a tail and the other assemblers would like the tail left on. This does not matter too much, as it is not make a huge difference so do not worry too much about weaving in the tail depending on who you are sending to.
In the case that we get so many squares that we can't possibly get them all into one afghan, we will figure out what to do with the extra squares, whether it be make a baby afghan to donate or just send them to Janet to figure out a solution. I guess we will cross that bridge when we get there...if we get there...
Should you have any questions for me you can email me at j_c_d_wright@yahoo.com.
Thank you all for your contributions!

Great job setting this up Courtney! You're so organized! I think if we do end up with too many squares, we could maybe make a pillow out of them? Just a thought, I've never done anything like this myself! I just sent two squares out today! I'm glad to be a part of this project! Em
I have thought about pillows, but it would really depend on how many extras we have.
Thank you for your squares!
Thanks for getting this set up. Mine and Emily's squares are on their way, to Mary, now.
